The “H,” Word. Hyperpigmentation.

The “H,” Word. Hyperpigmentation.

Hyperpigmentation.

This simple yet oh so complex word makes us want to scream every obscenity there is in the book! Hyperpigmentation seems like a problem that just appears over night but takes almost forever to get rid of. But first, what is this dreaded condition that’s contempt on making people across the world angry? Let’s define it.

According to Web-MD:
“Hyperpigmentation in skin is caused by an increase in melanin, the substance in the body that is responsible for color (pigment). Certain conditions, such as pregnancy or Addison's disease (decreased function of the adrenal gland), may cause a greater production of melanin and hyperpigmentation. Exposure to sunlight is a major cause of hyperpigmentaion, and will darken already hyperpigmented areas.”

But let’s put it in a more simply way :
Darkened patches or spots on the skin that are a pain in our asses to treat.

Before we start off on how to treat hyperpigmentation, let’s say this:
Hyperpigmentation is normal. Hyperpigmentation is normal. Hyperpigmentation is normal. Hyperpigmentation is normal.

So what are the causes of hyperpigmentation and how can we naturally treat it? That’s a good question!

Some causes of hyperpigmentation but not limited to are:

•Trauma to your skin.
That’s right, I’m talking to all my pimple poppers and hair tweezers here! Stop picking your face, you’re causing scarring and dark marks on your face.

•Sun damage.
Wear sunscreen baes!

•Acne.
Left over scarring from acne.

•Hormonal.
Hormonal changes in our bodies can cause hyperpigmentation especially if you are pregnant.

•Hereditary
That’s right. Blame great grandma and great granddaddy!

Products we have to treat hyperpigmentation. Remember, hyperpigmentation doesn’t just disappear overnight, especially if you are doing it the chemical free way.

Detox soap: With the help of activated charcoal and tea tree oil, this soap is meant to help treat acne while helping the appearance of hyperpigmentation without over drying your skin.

Detox Salt and Sugar Scrub: Exfoliation is key to help keeping your skin soft and shedding any dead skin. Exfoliating can help the appearance of dark marks. We recommend using this scrub only on your body and not your face.

Detox Mask mixed with Honey: This mask was created to help treat acne and to improve the look of dark marks with the help of activated charcoal. Honey is a natural moisturizer and helps promotes healthy skin cell production.

Carrot Mask: This mask is more effective in helping hyperpigmentation since it contains two powerful ingredients; carrots and licorice root. Carrots contain B-carotene to help lighten the skin naturally and licorice root is a natural skin lightener.

Carrot and Oatmeal Soap: The Carrot and Oatmeal Soap is great for treating itchiness due to eczema and helping gently lighten the skin with the help of carrots.

The natural way is the way to go instead of harsh and dangerous chemicals. Remember, nothing happens overnight but with consistency, you will notice changes.
